ohh, good list. I hated Cold Mountain but also I was reading it for assignment, not for fun, and in my experience that's a good way to kill a decent book. Unbearable Lightness of Being is cool and philosophical, and Everything is Illuminated is a trip in a good way. Neither of them I would read a second time but I'm glad I read them. And Dave Eggers is definitely on my list of to-reads.
